About Cutlery Hire

Cutlery is one of those details that quietly shapes the feel of a table, as well as the actual eating experience. By hiring cutlery you can create a really polished, coordinated dining setup without the hassle of buying, matching, transporting, and then washing hundreds of pieces afterwards. At YES Hire, all our cutlery hire arrives professionally cleaned to a mirror finish:  table-ready! It is packed hygienically in packs of ten, which can be opened on site and go straight onto your tables. No sorting through boxes to find matching sets, or spending a morning standing over a steaming-hot container polishing spoons. Instead, you get consistent, heavy-quality pieces that feel substantial in the hand and help create a more special dining experience for your guests. Once the event is over, simply pack everything back into the crates and we’ll collect it dirty, helping to take some of the pressure off clear-down too.

We offer several cutlery hire ranges to suit different event styles and table settings. Our Zephyr cutlery is one of the most versatile choices, with a neutral design that works beautifully across weddings, corporate events, and more special dinners at home! These pieces have a weight that immediately feels high-quality when guests pick them up. If you’re looking for something with a little more texture and detail, our Cellene range brings subtle interest to the table through softly patterned handles that catch the light beautifully during service. They work particularly well alongside candlelight, or moodily set rooms. For modern dining setups, our Linear cutlery range offers a completely different look. These are slim and minimalist, with a lightweight feel that pairs perfectly with more modern table styling and elegant glassware.

Hiring cutlery also gives you flexibility for less formal dining situations. It’s not just about knives and forks laid on a table for the main meal. Many events need spoons stacked at the end of a buffet table, or teaspoons for coffee stations. You might need to consider serving cutlery for sharing platters or self-serve station, and carving cutlery for those roast meat Sundays. If you’re a caterer, you’ll need multiple tasting spoons! You get the idea: once menus are finalised, it’s surprisingly easy to realise you need far more cutlery than expected, especially if you have caterers working across multiple courses and service areas. Hiring allows you to quickly increase quantities to exactly what your event requires without having to buy extras you may never use again.

At YES Hire, we provide cutlery hire across North Yorkshire and the North for weddings, marquee events, corporate hospitality, and any private celebrations. Alongside cutlery, we can also supply crockery hire, glassware hire, linen hire, furniture, and catering equipment. We are here to help everyone throwing an event: from seasoned planners and caterers, down to create fully coordinated table settings through one reliable Yorkshire event hire company.

What cutlery can I hire?

Our cutlery hire range includes everything from dinner knives, forks and spoons to dessert cutlery, teaspoons, serving spoons, cake forks and specialist serving utensils. You can hire exactly what you need!

Which cutlery range should I choose?

The right choice depends on the style of your event. Our Zephyr range has a classic design that suits almost any occasion, Cellene adds subtle decorative detail for more elegant table settings, while Linear offers a clean, contemporary look. If you’re unsure which collection will work best with your crockery and glassware, you can browse the individual pages for pictures and information and of course we’re always happy to offer advice.

Why should I hire cutlery instead of buying it?

Hiring saves you from buying hundreds of matching knives, forks and spoons that you may not need again. It also removes the time spent washing, polishing and storing everything after the event. It also means you can have every table setting matching, with each piece polished and shiny. Whilst for some events you may be able to beg, steal or borrow enough pieces from friends and family, others events call for a more sophisticated set up!

Every piece arrives hygienically bagged in packs of 10. Every piece is professionally cleaned and polished, ready to go straight onto your tables.

Can I hire cutlery in Yorkshire?

Yes, with us! YES Hire supplies cutlery throughout Yorkshire, the North East and surrounding areas. We hire silverware for weddings, corporate dinners, marquee events, private parties, large family celebrations and everything else!

How many knives, forks and spoons will I need?

The answer depends on your menu and your guest list. A three-course meal requires more pieces of cutlery than a buffet. If you’re adding evening coffee you may need additional teaspoons. A soup starter will mean hiring a spoon and knife, rather than a fork. Start with your menu! And, if you’re planning a buffet or sharing platters, don’t forget to include serving cutlery as well.

If you’d like some guidance, we’ll be happy to help you work out the quantities.

Does the cutlery arrive clean?

Yes. Every item is professionally washed, polished and checked before leaving our warehouse. The cutlery is packed in hygienic bundles of ten, making it quick and easy to lay tables without spending time polishing each piece before service.

Do I need to wash the cutlery before returning it?

Not if you take advantage of our dirty return service. Once your event has finished, simply remove any leftover food and pack the cutlery, separated by type, back into the boxes they arrived in. We’ll pick everything up and then do the washing and polishing at our warehouse.

Can I hire serving spoons and other serving cutlery?

Yes. Alongside standard table setting items, we also hire serving spoons, serving forks, cake slices, carvery sets and other specialist pieces. These are ideal for buffets, sharing platters, dessert stations and cake cutting.

What happens if some cutlery goes missing?

With large events it’s not unusual for the occasional teaspoon or fork to disappear. We’ll check everything back into stock and will know if anything is missing after your event. We will only charge for items that haven’t been returned, if it isn’t covered by your damage waiver.

How long can I hire cutlery for?

Our standard hire period is up to five days, giving you plenty of time to prepare your tables before the event and pack everything back in to the right boxes afterwards. If you need your cutlery for longer, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to arrange an extended hire if we have the stock available..

What types of events hire cutlery?

Cutlery hire is commonly used by people or companies organising weddings, corporate dinners, private parties, charity events, Christmas parties, outdoor catering and marquee receptions. It is particularly useful for larger events where a large number o matching knives, forks and spoons are required.

Do you provide cutlery for different courses?

Yes. We stock a range of pieces suitable for different menus, including table knives, table forks, dessert spoons, dessert forks and teaspoons. If your event includes multiple courses, coffee service or dessert stations, we can help you calculate the quantities required.

Do I need serving cutlery as well as table cutlery?

It will depend on your event’s menu! Serving spoons, serving forks and other utensils are often forgotten when planning a table setting. Buffets, sharing platters, dessert tables and self-service stations all require serving pieces, so it’s worth remembering these when placing your order.

How is cutlery packed when it arrives?

Our cutlery is packed in bundles of ten, making it simple to count, transport and distribute around your venue. Everything arrives clean and polished, ready to go onto tables.

Can I hire crockery, glassware and linen too?

Yes, we have it all! Cutlery is just one part of a complete table setting. We hire crockery, glassware and table linen, making it possible to coordinate your entire dining setup using us as your sole supplier.

How much cutlery should I order for a wedding?

This depends on your menu, guest numbers and style of service. A formal wedding breakfast would require several pieces of cutlery per guest, while a relaxed buffet will need fewer items.

It’s also worth considering hiring extra cutlery for event staff such as caterers, or for guests who may need replacements during the event. Our team can help you plan your order , just get in touch with us.

Can caterers hire cutlery from YES Hire?

Yes, we love to work with traders. We regularly supply cutlery to caterers, wedding planners and event planners who need a reliable hire service with clean, consistent tableware for their events. Our longer hire periods make it easier for you to schedule and our delivery and dirty return services can reduce the number of staff you’ll need.

What happens if cutlery is lost during the event?

With large events, the occasional missing teaspoon or fork is not unusual. Once everything has been returned, we’ll check the quantities and let you know if any items need replacing.

Can I hire cutlery for a small private event?

Yes. Cutlery hire isn’t only for big weddings and corporate events. It is also a great option for dinner parties, milestone birthdays and family celebrations where you want an extra special table setting without purchasing all new items.

Can I collect cutlery myself?

We provide a delivery and collection service across Yorkshire and the North East for larger orders, however you are more than welcome to come to our warehouse near Thirsk if you’d like to collect your order yourself, or it doesn’t meet the minimum hire size. In summer, we can arrange collections from Sunday to Friday, in winter from Monday to Friday.
