FAQs

What is a water boiler?
Our 20l water boiler is a high-capacity piece of catering equipment thaht can provide a steady supply of hot water for events. It is made from stainless steel, has a generous 20 litre capacity and an adjustable temperature range from 30°C to 100°C, giving you flexibility depending on what you need it for. It plugs into a standard 13A socket, so this water boiler is a practical option when a reliable electricity source is available.

What do I hire a water boiler for?
A water boiler is the perfect choice for events where you need more hot water than a kettle can provide. They are most commonly hired for serving tea and coffee, filling cafetières and teapots, or keeping hot water available for instant drinks and simple catering tasks throughout service. They are especially useful at weddings, corporate events, village shows, temporary catering kitchens and staff welfare areas where smaller kettles simply won’t keep up with demand.

Why should I hire a water boiler ?
Hiring a water boiler is a great way to make sure you have plenty of hot water available without relying on multiple kettles and constant refilling. A 20l water boiler gives you a much larger capacity, keeps service running smoothly and is far more practical when you’re catering for a crowd.

How do I use a water boiler?
Our water boiler is very straightforward to use. Simply place it on a stable catering table or kitchen work surface, fill it with water, plug it into a standard 13A socket and select the temperature you need. The boiler will then heat the water and keep it at temperature, ready to dispense using the built-in tap.

The tap height is designed to make it easy to fill cups, mugs, teapots and other containers. As with any hot water equipment, it should be used carefully and kept in a safe position where guests or staff are not likely to knock it. However, this is a safe piece of equipment to use front of house where guests can help themselves if needed.

Can I hire a water boiler in Yorkshire?
Yes, you can hire water boilers at YES Hire! We are based in North Yorkshire near Thirsk and deliver catering equipment across Yorkshire, the North East and beyond.

How much does it cost to hire a water boiler?
Our 20L water boiler costs from £25.00 ex.VAT to hire. This gives you a high-capacity hot water solution for your event without the upfront cost of buying one outright. If you need the boiler for a longer period than our standard hire duration, please just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Why hire a water boiler instead of buying one?
Hiring gives you all the convenience of having a fully equipped catering setup without the cost, storage and transport issues that come with owning additional equipment. Water boilers are ideal for one-off events and occasional busy periods, but may spend the rest of the year taking up valuable storage space. If you only need a water boiler for a single event, a busy weekend, or a temporary kitchen setup, hiring is a simple and cost-effective solution.

When you hire from YES Hire, you can also be confident that your equipment has been cleaned, tested and checked before it arrives with you, so it is ready to go when you need it.

Do you have a PAT test for your water boilers?
Yes, all of our electrical catering equipment is PAT tested as part of our maintenance process. Each water boiler has a PAT test sticker attached so you can easily see that it has been checked and approved for use.

How big is the water boiler?
Our 20L water boiler measures 535(H) x 369(W) x 440(D)mm. It has a large 20 litre capacity, but because it is designed to be tall rather than wide, it doesn’t take up too much room on your catering table or kitchen worktop.

Can a water boiler be used outdoors?
Yes, a water boiler can be used outdoors, provided it is protected from the weather and has access to a suitable power source. Because it is an electrical item, it must be kept dry and used on a stable table or catering surface rather than directly on the ground.

If you are planning an outdoor event, it is worth thinking carefully about your power supply and positioning so the boiler can be used safely and conveniently throughout service.

How many cups of tea or coffee will a 20L water boiler provide?
A 20 litre water boiler will provide approximately 80 cups of tea or coffee, depending on the size of cup you are using. This makes it a great option for larger events, staff catering areas and busy drink stations where you need to keep hot drinks flowing without constantly boiling kettles.

How long does a 20L water boiler take to heat up?
You should allow around 1 hour for a 20L water boiler to fully heat its contents, depending on the starting water temperature and the temperature setting you choose. For busy events, it is always a good idea to allow plenty of time before service begins so the boiler is fully up to temperature and ready to use.

Does a 20L water boiler need a mains water connection?
No, this water boiler does not need a mains water connection. It is manually filled, which makes it a flexible option for use in temporary kitchens, event spaces and venues where plumbed-in water is not available. All you need is a suitable flat surface and access to a standard 13A power socket
